Nwabuoku Pledges To Fix Leaking Roofs In Umegbali Pry School, Okpanam

In a bid to ensure a conducive learning environment for children,  a  community leader in Okpanam and the the Enyi-Oha 1 of Isiahaba autonomous community,  Chief Uzowulu  Agadagidi Nwabuoku has promised to fix the living roofs at Umegbali primary school, Okpanam.

Chief Nwabuoku made the pledge during the second edition of the school's inter house sports competition, held at the school's playground, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area.

He said that there was need to embark on such gesture baring in mind that the school was serving the children of Okpanam origin and residents in the community, adding that despite the fact that it was the responsibility of government to make learning environment conducive , spirited individuals should complement government's efforts.

Chief Uzor Nwabuoku, the patron of white house ,  said that sports helps to bring unity among individuals in the society, emphasizing that constant exercise was good for the overall mental and  physical well-being of the children.

Earlier in her welcome address, the Headteacher of Umegbali primary school, Mrs. Edith Owumi explained that the  school classrooms ,  doors , ceilings had been consistently burgled, stressing that the school lacked pupils' seats and tables with many of the classrooms licking .

Mrs. Owumi lauded  the Ugoani of Okpanam kingdom, HRM, Michael Mbanefo Ogbolu and other well meaning individuals in the community for their intervention in tackling the issue of vandalism in the school just as she appealed to stakeholders in the community to support in addressing the challenges facing the school.

Earlier, the Education Secretary for Oshimili North Local Government Area, Elder Augustine Odogwu said that school's sports competition was a veritable platform for children to display their potentials in sports.

 

A cleric , Bishop Paul Evumovwe , who stood in for the  chairman of the occasion, Chief Felix Okafor, the Ikejiani of Okpanam kingdom underscored the importance of sports for the children, reminding them that it was good for their health.
