Delta Speaker, Guwor Reaffirms Trust in Oborevwori’s Governance Amid Delta APC Leadership

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has expressed strong confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s leadership as the head of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Speaking during a live television interview , Guwor addressed the mass defection of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to the APC, dismissing claims of betrayal.

He cited irreconcilable challenges within the PDP, including prolonged leadership disputes and litigation at the national level, which had created instability. According to Guwor, the PDP’s inability to resolve its leadership crisis, exemplified by the Supreme Court’s ruling on the National Secretary and the failed merger talks among governors, left members with no choice but to switch parties.

The Speaker emphasized that the decision to join the APC was driven by the collective interest of Delta State rather than personal gain.

He praised Governor Oborevwori’s outstanding performance, noting that the state has become a hub of infrastructure development under his leadership and  assured residents that there was no reason to fear the future, given the governor’s commitment to progress.

He further clarified that the defection was a well-consulted decision involving all key stakeholders, from the governor and his deputy to lawmakers, council chairmen, and party executives at all levels.

The Speaker described the move to the APC as a necessary and strategic step to ensure political stability ahead of the 2027 elections.** He dismissed concerns about divided loyalties, affirming that all party stakeholders would unite behind Governor Oborevwori as their leader. Guwor stressed that the transition was seamless and reflected the broader consensus among Delta’s political leadership. He reiterated that the governor’s track record of development and inclusive governance justified the widespread support for the defection.

In conclusion, Guwor expressed optimism about Delta State’s future under APC leadership, highlighting the party’s cohesion and clear direction and assured that the mass movement into the APC would strengthen governance and ensure continued progress for the state. With all major political figures aligned under one party, Guwor projected a unified and stable political landscape, positioning Delta for sustained growth and development in the years ahead.
