Community Based Organisations implementing a Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) have been reminded of the need for them to embrace attitudinal change while discharging their responsibility in communities .
The Delta State Chairman of ACOMIN, Pastor Greg Sifo, who gave the charge in Asaba during the monthly coordination meeting for the month of April, said that the CBOs personnel should always display humility while dispensing their duties in the various communities of implementation, because community work was all about sacrifices.
Sifo noted that the essence of the intervention was for the community to take ownership of their primary healthcare centres/facilities and ensure sustainability of the ongoing Community Led Monitoring Team (CLMT) activities in the primary health care centres in the state by the global fund, taking into consideration that the support from the global fund will not be forever.
He told the CBOs that it was their impact in the community that would make them to be remembered by the community they were working.
Also speaking, the Programme Officer of ACOMIN, Mr. Austin Uwede urged the CBOs to always ensure that reports of their advocacy visits, carry the date, venue of the meeting and the name of the person they visited, emphasizing that the response of the person must be reflected in their reports.
Uwede also enjoined the CBOs to keep to timeline in submitting their reports and appreciated them for their efforts in the last quarter of the intervention.
In their various remarks, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr. Charles Eboka, the Director of Partnership and Policy Control, State Action for the Control of AIDS(SACA) , Mrs. Grace Sifo represented by Mr. Paul Uwadia and the representative of Management Sciences for Health, Mr. Raymond Emeto commended the CBOs for their commitment to their responsibility.
Dr. Eboka disclosed that the state governor would soon visit some primary healthcare facilities in the state, just as he mentioned that revitalization was ongoing in all the PHCs.
He said that through the support of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, the healthcare facilities in the state would deliver effective healthcare services, noting that the state government was committed to ensuring universal health coverage to enable people have access to health services.
Speaking further, Uwadia explained that the responsibility of SACA was to coordinate the CBOs and other organizations, working towards the eradication of HIV/AIDs , affirming that the activities of ACOMIN and the CBOs was improving healthcare facilities in the state.
