It was celebrations and excitement as Chief Sir Okelue Okpoli was installed as Otunba Aderoju of Gbomina Ekiti, Ekiti State by HRM Oba Rufus Olarenwaju Ajayi on December 11th 2024.
The renowned investment banker and erstwhile MD/CEO of Asteric Asset Management Ltd, who holds the chieftaincy title of Olorogun Oriro of Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State . He was also bestowed with the revered traditional title of Akpe of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom by HRM Obi Chukwuka Noah Akaeze both in Delta State.
At the coronation, HRM Oba Rufus Olarenwaju Ajayi described Otunba Okelue Okpoli as a worthy and illustrious son, a friend of the community, who had continued to make immense contribution to the private sector growth and national development, a notable philanthropist and cultural ambassador.
In the words of the monarch, " It is right to refer to him as a kingmaker in the making. Otunba is not only familiar with several monarchs within the country but also at ease in the corporate world" .
According to the traditional ruler, Otunba Okelue Okpoli is a man of uncommon achievements and a distinguished investment management professional, who has received multiple accolades and awards from his industry and community honors as well.
It could be recalled that Chief Okpoli was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Administration, National Institute of Credit Administration, Institute of Corporate Administration
and Chartered Institute of Cost Management of Nigeria.
He has has also received industry awards as the Most Astute MD/CEO for Innovation and Tactical Management From The National Institute of Credit Administration and Excellence In Cost Management Award from the Chartered Institute of Cost Management in Nigeria as well as his investiture as a Catholic Knight of the Knights of St John International (KSJI).
Chief Sir Okelue Okpoli's father , Dr Sir Felix Uzor Okpoli retired as a General Manager with the defunct PHCN and was the first Engineering graduate from Ubulu-Uku Kingdom, who was honored with a merit award by the late HRM Obi Ofulue III Agbogidi of Ubulu-Uku for his numerous contributions to the community.
His mother , lady Dorothy Okpoli is from the prominent Nwabuoku royal and priestly family of Okpanam. Her father, late Ven Stephen Nwabuoku was one of the foremost Anglican priests in the then Mid Western Nigeria and set up the St Andrews Anglican Church in 1934 in Okpanam, Delta State. Her grand father was the late and eminent Obi Nwabuoku of Ogbeowelle, whose father was Obi Tukpa of Okpanam.
His first cousin is the late Chief Dr. Nnamdi Nwabuoku, the Odoziani of Okpanam and Medical Director May Clinic, Obiaruku in Delta State.
Chief Okpoli's wife, Chief (Barr.) Mrs. Oberhiri Okpoli is a princess of royal and legal background. Her father was the late High Chief M.P Ohwovoriole SAN and Akpile/Akpohor (Traditional prime minister) of Olomu Kingdom. Her grand father was the Ohworode (king) of Olomu Kingdom.
