The bullet was fired by a policeman during a traffic operation.
The boy was in a car with his father, who was driving against traffic. When police and traffic officers tried to stop him, the father reportedly tried to escape.
An officer shot at the car and the bullet pierce through the car, hit and killed the boy.
Angry residents protested, carrying the boy’s body to the Oyo State Secretariat, demanding justice.
The state government described the incident as “sad and avoidable” while also extending condolence to the deceased family and said the officer involved is under investigation. They also noted that the father’s traffic violation led to the tragedy.
