Delta ANCOPSS President, Ahweyevu Lauds Ezewu For Effort In Sustaining Standard Of Education In Delta

The Delta State Commissioner for Secondary Education, Mrs. Rose Ezewu has been commended for elevating, sustaining the standard of education and enduring that  sporting activities are taken seriously in all secondary schools in Delta State.
The State President of All Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), and the Principal of Afiesere Secondary School, Afiesere in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Noble Christian Orakpo Ahweyevu made the commendation on the occasion of his school's 25th Annual Inter-House Sports Competition.
Ahweyevu, who noted that the importance of sports competition in the life of children cannot be overemphasized, said that apart from aiding the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual development of human body , sports created avenue for students to discover their talents in the field of sports with a rewarding end.

He also lauded the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for promoting and funding sports development in Delta State in line with his administration's MORE Agenda.

He said that the school was sustaining discipline for which it was known, adding that the performances of students of Afiesere Secondary School in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) , NECO and WAEC had always been excellent.

The Principal recalled that last year, the school  appealed to  invited guests during their previous inter house sports competition to assist in the renovation of school laboratories , namely biology, physics, chemistry, agricultural science and food and nutrition but only the physics laboratory was renovated.

Ahweyevu explained that there was need to renovate the remaining laboratories for the use of the students, stressing that the school was facing the challenge of back filing of  part of the perimeter fence with white sand to prevent it from consistent collapse.

He appealed  to the President -General of Afiesere community, Mr. Luke Mukoro , the chairman of the occasion and the old students for both materials and financial support to enable the school cater for its present challenges, assuring that the materials and cash would be judiciously used to the admiration of all .
Ahweyevu further thanked the President -General of the community, Mr. Luke Mukoro for registering 52 students from Afiesere in the just concluded  registration for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination.
