World Food Day Celebrates "Water is Life, Leave No One Behind"

Today's world is faced with the challenges of food security and access to clean water which is considered a major challenges to human existence The United Nations, sheds light on the critical role of water in agriculture and food production by setting aside the 16 day of October yearly as World food day With the 2023 theme: "Water is Life, water is food, Leave No One Behind." This annual event was, established by the Food and Agriculture Organization and global community as a reminder that climate change plays a critical role in inline with the theme of the world food day event for 2023 Delta State joined in the 2023 world food day event, the governor Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori represented by his deputy spoke on n the significance of the day. The Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture said government has done a lot at ensuring food sufficiency as well as ensuring that policies and programmes of Government promote Sustainability of Agricultural food chain for nutrition, and overall human survival inline with the theme for the world food day. The LIFE-ND Co ordinator, Delta State Mr Collins Ashoro at the 2023 World food day event said it was a called to redouble efforts, to secure clean water sources, promote sustainable agricultural practices, and eradicate hunger.
